Harvesting activity by the Forestry Commission (Sep 2010 - Feb 2011)
The work by the Forestry Commission is now complete following the removal of last log piles on 7 February. This mainly involved the thinning of Larch, Scots and Corsican pine and the removal of the invasive Western Hemlock. A total of 3,200 tons of felled wood has now been removed. Approximately a third of this been chipped and used for bio-fuel in the Teeside area. The rest of the wood will be used for structural purposes including fences and pallets.
