EVENTS PROGRAMME - SPRING 2009
Wednesday 11 February - The Restoration of Howsham Mill Chris Fawdington will be giving an illustrated talk. Meet at the Reading Room at 8pm. Admission is free to members, non-members £1.50, and refreshments 50p.
Saturday 14 February - Tree Planting We will be meeting at the wood end of Intake Lane at 10am. Bring gloves, wellies and a spade if you can. We will be busy till 1pm, so come for as long as you can.
Tuesday 31 March - Brazilian Beauties Terry Weston’s spectacular starts at 7.30pm in the Reading Room and admission is free.
Sunday 5 April - Bike Ride to Buttercrambe Meet at 2.30pm next to the children’s play area on Intake Lane for a Spring bike ride past Hagg Wood to Scoreby and on to Buttercrambe and other local woods. We will stop for a cup of tea en route.
Wednesday 27 May - AGM & Exploring Pocklington Canal
Following our AGM, Sheila Nix MBE, the Secretary of the Pocklington Canal Amenity Society, will be giving an illustrated talk on the heritage and wildlife habitat asociated with Pocklington Canal. Meet at the Reading Room at 8pm. Admission is free to members, non-members £1.50, and refreshments 50p.
Sunday 7 June - Visit to the Lower Derwent Valley Craig Ralston of English Nature will be our host for a guided tour of the delights of the Lower Derwent Valley Nature Reserve. a magnificent wildlife habitat on our own doorsteps. Meet at the Reading Room car park at 2pm. Let David know on 488674 if you need a lift.
Friday Afternoons - Hedgerow Survey and Walks The Woodland Walks are at 2pm on Friday 20th February and March 20th, meeting at the wood end of Intake Lane. The Hedgerow Survey takes place every Friday at 2pm from April to August that the hedges are in leaf, starting at 5 Church Lane. Phone Linda on 489127 for more details.
Woodland Working Parties - Conservation in Action These will be held on the mornings of Saturdays 24 January, 14 February, 14 March, 4 April, 9 May, 6 June and 11 July so do put these dates in your diary. Meet at 10am at the Hagg Farm end of Intake Lane. Bring gloves if you can, and wear stout shoes or wellies
