Sunday 7^th October  -   Fungal Foray 

Local botanist Findley Cooke will lead an exploration in Hagg Wood of fungae to be found in the wood at this time of the year. Meet at 3pm next to the Community Woodland Noticeboard at the entrance to the Wood at the end of Intake Lane. Wear wellies or stout shoes.

Sunday 21^st October  -   Visit to Castle Howard Arboretum 

Meet at the Reading Room car park at 11.15am for a drive to Welburn for lunch at 12 noon at the Crown and Cushion, which has a reputation for good food, before going on to the Castle Howard Arboretum at 2.30pm. Alternatively meet at the entrance to the Castle Howard Arboretum at 2.30pm. Entrance is £4.50 for adults. Let David know on 488674 if you need a lift and/or would like a vegetarian lunch.

Wednesday 5^th December  -  Alien Species 

Dr Niall Moore of the Central Science Laboratory at Sand Hutton, and local Dunnington resident, will be giving an illustrated talk on alien species of flora and fauna that have been invading the UK, and the threats that these may pose to our native species. Only earthlings may attend this meeting! 8pm in the Reading Room. Admission free to members, non-members ,£1.50, Refreshments 50p. 

3rd Fridays September - November    Friday Walks 

Monthly escorted walks (on Fridays 21^st September, 19^th October and 16^th  November, weather permitting) at 2pm at the Intake Lane entrance to the Wood. Phone Linda on 489127 if you need a lift or if the weather is bad.  Wear wellies or stout shoes.

Woodland Working Parties -  Conservation in Action 

These will be held on the mornings of Saturdays 8^th September, 13^th October, 3^rd November, and 1^st December, so do put these dates in your diary. Meet at 10am at the Hagg Farm end of Intake Lane. Bring gloves if you can, and wear stout shoes or wellies. We have plenty of useful things to do in the Wood, so we would be very pleased if you can join us.
