EVENTS PROGRAMME - AUTUMN 2007
Sunday 7th October - Fungal Foray
Local botanist Findley Cooke will lead an exploration in Hagg Wood of fungae to be found in the wood at this time of the year. Meet at 3pm next to the Community Woodland Noticeboard at the entrance to the Wood at the end of Intake Lane. Wear wellies or stout shoes.
Sunday 21st October - Visit to Castle Howard Arboretum
Wednesday 5th December - Alien Species
Dr Niall Moore of the Central Science Laboratory at Sand Hutton, and local Dunnington resident, will be giving an illustrated talk on alien species of flora and fauna that have been invading the UK, and the threats that these may pose to our native species. Only earthlings may attend this meeting! 8pm in the Reading Room. Admission free to members, non-members ,£1.50, Refreshments 50p.
3rd Fridays September - November Friday Walks
Monthly escorted walks (on Fridays 21st September, 19th October and 16th November, weather permitting) at 2pm at the Intake Lane entrance to the Wood. Phone Linda on 489127 if you need a lift or if the weather is bad. Wear wellies or stout shoes.
Woodland Working Parties - Conservation in Action
These will be held on the mornings of Saturdays 8th September, 13th October, 3rd November, and 1st December, so do put these dates in your diary. Meet at 10am at the Hagg Farm end of Intake Lane. Bring gloves if you can, and wear stout shoes or wellies. We have plenty of useful things to do in the Wood, so we would be very pleased if you can join us.
